Romy is an artist based in Melbourne, taking influential cues from the moderns in areas of paint, ceramics and sculpture. Visual references from overseas include Lee Krasner, Barbara Hepworth and the Bloomsbury Group. Closer to childhood home Warrandyte Nth, inspired by Inge King, Gus McClaren and Robin Boyd.
Using both large and smaller sized canvases and paper, Romy’s works are more immediate, flowing from self onto the space. A contemporary abstract expressionist painter who paints modern pieces, with her studio on the edge of the Yarra Valley, Romy is influenced by the serene landscape and flora.
“Some works speak loudly while other works definitely whisper. Painting keeps me balanced. I’m at total peace when painting with the smells and time spent in the studio. I am so happy people are enjoying my work.”
